Two Hundred Attend All-Class Reunion
“Gaels Just Want to Have Fun,” in the words of Holly Pletke Main, ’77, words on a large banner decorating the cafeteria for the All-Class Alumni Reunion held on Saturday, July 23. It’s quite possible that all 200 or so in attendance did indeed have fun.
With the honoring of the newly-retired Mr. John Jones, servant-leader at Holy Cross from 1991-2016, there was an especially nice mix of teachers and former teachers on hand for the evening of celebration. Mr. Jones served as principal for 15 years, the longest tenured principal in the 137 year history of the school. His three adult children spoke in his honor and he was presented with a crucifix that including engraving with the school motto “Spes Unica,” Latin for the cross being”our only hope.”
There were also graduates from about 30 different graduating classes, with special toasting of the milestone Classes of 1966, 1976, and 2006 and special recognition of the Class of 1974, which was well-represented.
Musical entertainment was provided by the Steve Freeman (’74) Band and by disc jockey Ivy Schumacher , daughter of Dianne Delledera, Class of 1976. Dianne served on the reunion planning team which included Pat Holland Douglas, ’66, Leonard Frye, ’72, Vicki Zechini Barrett, ’73, Holly Pletke Main, ’77, and Daniel Rezai, 2006. Thanks to all of them and to all who attended.
